SyiL ELECTRONICS. Interfaces and Stepper drivers

The motors are installed on the machine, the power supply is in place, the computer is waiting...what now? Well, you need to drive those motors somehow and SyiL have produced their own electronics for this purpose.

The Interface board. This allows your computer to connect to the motors by way of the motor driver electronics. Signals generated in G-code from software on your computer is then routed to the driver electronics via the Interface Board. The interface is usually driven from the parallel printer port of your pc. The interface board will:

  • Directly support most CADCAM CNC software.
  • Connects easily to the SyiL Stepper Motor Driver.
  • Enables the user to control the steppers off-line for manual adjustment.
  • Will support three types of spindle controller, including DC drive, AC drive and VFD drive.
  • Has two-way redundant signal output, useful for coolant or air flow control.
  • Has eight-way Origin/Over Stroke safety device signal input for connection to photocouplers, micro-switches, tool setters etc.
  • Emergency STOP switch provision.
  • All output signals are conditioned.
  • Printed circuit board with integral ground-plane to prevent/reject noise from entering the work data stream.

  • Micro-Step Drives.
  • Power supply voltage from DC 32 volt to 60 volt.
  • Driver current infinitely variable from 1.0 amp to 4.3 amp.
  • Micro-step from 2, 4, 5, 10, 20, 25, 50, 100 microsteps/division.
  • Auto half current shut off. Reduces the standing current of the motor if the machine has paused longer than the set time.
  • Auto over-heat protection with automatic recovery when temperature is within limits.
  • Phase origin and Malfunction Protection indication.
  • Total system protection..senses low voltage or over temperature and shuts down automatically.
  • Photocoupler isolation to prevent earth loop problems.
